Cardiology Medical Consultants provides comprehensive and convenient cardiac testing, administered by certified nuclear technicians and interpreted by board-certified cardiologists. We currently have nine cardiologists on staff, including an electrophysiologist. Our echocardiography and nuclear cardiology tests are usually available within 24 hours and reports are delivered back to our referring physicians within 3 days or less. Treadmill testing is always done with a certified registered nurse and cardiologist present. Our cardiology services include: > Bioimpedence Monitoring Cardiac Electrophysiology Cardiac electrophysiology is a division of cardiology that tests, diagnoses and treats heart rhythm abnormalities. Dr. Antonio Navarrete specializes in cardiac electrophysiology ( electricity of the heart). Please see below for a description of these procedures. Invasive Procedures & Tests: Electrophysiology (EP) Study and the mapping of the heart An EP Study is conducted in order to measure exactly how the electrical impulses flow through your heart during a heart beat. A small catheter is placed inside your heart to record electrical impulses and to determine areas of abnormal electrical conduction information. Radiofrequency Arrhythmia Ablation This is a non-surgical procedure used to treat certain types of rapid heart irregularities or cardiac arrhythmias. Permanent Pacemaker Implantation This procedure is recommended to correct some types of bradycardia (slower than normal heart beat) or heart blocks . A pulse generator is implanted under the skin in the upper chest area and lead wires are also attached. Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) This is a small device implanted into the upper chest area to accurately analyze and treat cardiac rhythm and arythmias. The ICD monitor senses the abnormal rhythm and sends one or more electrical impulses or shocks to the heart restoring normal rhythm. Non-Invasive Tests: Tilt table test Determines the appropriate treatment for patients who experience fainting or near fainting ( syncope or presyncope) symptoms. NIPS (Non-Invasive Programmed Stimulation) Tests the implanted defibrillator and/or treats certain types of cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.
